Playlists
« on: June 11, 2003, 09:26:19 am »

Dumbo back again for more pearls of wisdom.

I have wrongly set up a number of cd's to be in more than one playlist when clearly they do not need to be. For example some cd's appear in three playlists instead of one. How can I delete the cd's from two of the three playlists without removing the cd permanetly from the library?

I did attempt to delete but was scared to do so in case I deleted the whole cd from the library.

In the multi-purpose properties/image/info window, one of the views is "playlists".  If that is being shown, and if you select all the tracks for a CD, it will display a check box next to all the playlists it belongs to.  Just uncheck to remove.

I hope this makes sense.  Maybe someone else can explain it better.

Thanks for the feedback. Is the opion you refer to a main menu item or do you have to be in the playlist folder for example?

its the properties bar - u just change it to be 'playlists' instead of 'properties' and do it from there.

Yeah, either on the right-hand side (pre 9.1 beta) or in the lower left-hand corner (post 9.1 beta), there's a collapsible properties windows.  (If it's not being shown, i.e., it's collapsed, then you need to click on the little diamond arrow to expand it.)

From there, you can choose different views:  File Info, Playlists, Format, Image, or Statistics.  You do this by clicking on the left or right arrow icon in the window.

Omni,

Many thanks for the feedback although I am still in a tizz. I have the latest version of Media Center on trial.

The bottom left hand corner of my screen shows a player with the usual suspects of play, next, back etc. There is nothing on the right hand side whatsoever.

For your information, when I have ripped a cd and go to sync the list of playlists appears and I mark the appropriate one. Yet aftr the process it appears attached to all the playlists I have in place at the moment.

Here you go David (I think you're gonna like this ;) )

First, browse to the cd you ripped so that only it's files are displayed in the center window. Select them all, then either go "right-click > properties" or hit alt+enter....
You should see something like this pop out the right hand side of the library viewer....

now, click about where it says file info, choose "playlists" and you should see all your playlists like so....

Fix the check-boxes till you're happy :)

Enjoy.

Marko,

THANK YOU for the great advice.

Unfortunately, under file info I only have lines for birate, date created, date input, date modified, duration, file size, file type, file name, last played, media type  and number played.

Do I need to access another menu to modify the field disclosed under File Info?

It's confusing because it says "File Info" in two different places...

Look for "File Info" above where it says "General" and click there.

Click on the arrows that are in the top left of the Properties window.

Tried all the above and still cannot access playlists.

I see no properties arrow in the area suggested. Does this mean that the contents of file info could be different in version 9.0 which I have on trial, or can the user determine the fields he sees and which I may have done without realising :o ??
