MQA specific Tags?
« on: May 04, 2018, 02:03:12 am »

Hi all
I have been experimenting with MQA files lately.
Apparently MQA encoded files carry two MQA specific tags:
ENCODER = MQAEncode
ORIGINALSAMPLERATE = Samplerate of the source material. Format: 44100, 96000 etc
In mp3tag I can see those tags (using View Extended Tags) in commercial MQA files and I can also change them, or add them to MQA CD Rips, which do not carry the tags after the rip.
In JRiver I can add the tag fields through Tools / Options / Library & Folders / Manage Library Fields. The fields show up in the tagging pane. However they are empty in commercial MQA files (in which I can see them through mp3tag).
Can anyone enlighten me, where this is going wrong?
Thanks a lot

Update: I found the tags in the tagging pane. They are listed at the very bottom in the "Tag Dump" section in the Vorbis Comment Block. Update Library from Tags made them visible in the upper section of the tagging pane. Problem solved
