MC24 Focus/Mute Problem
« on: July 31, 2018, 09:05:11 am »

I recently (finally) updated to MC24 (from MC17). With MC24 open, when I hit mute on my keyboard, it only mutes MC, not the whole PC. With MC17, it would mute the entire PC. I would like the mute to cover the whole system, not just MC24. I have compared all the settings and do not see anything specific to switch to make this work like I would prefer.

If I close MC24, the mute button goes back to the PC, and when I reopen it, it goes back to only muting MC24...so it looks like MC24 is taking over full focus, but I cannot find the setting to change that, or perhaps it is working as expected now.

I still have MC17, and it still works like I would prefer and mutes the whole PC.

Any feedback or comment is appreciated.

Try right clicking on the speaker icon next to the volume slider (under the previous/play/pause/next buttons) and selecting System Volume. The keyboard mute button works for me after setting it (from either Application Volume or Internal Volume) to System Volume.

OK, so that worked for mute...but the prior version I had (MC17) I used the Internal Volume and my keyboard would be system volume and not impact MC...but if I used my mouse wheel while over MC, it would change it.

So changing it to System Volume is now having a secondary issue. If I have MC24 open (2nd monitor) and my primary monitor is on a game (Steam or otherwise)...I will lose audio in the game. I have to close MC24 and then, in the game, toggle audio settings to get it to come back.

So it still looks like MC24 is doing something to grab and hold focus on the audio driver.

MC17 does not do this. I still have it on my system, but I paid for the upgrade to MC24 and would like to use it.

Uncheck "Exclusive Mode" in MC's Audio settings.
