Which grafikcard for madvr
« on: August 11, 2018, 03:09:59 pm »

I wanna ask which graficcard people use for madvr?

At moment i have an GT730. Watching HD Ready (720p) with madvr and upscaling to 1080p is smooth and no problem. SD material makes sometimes stuttering cause gpu rises up to 100% power hole time.

Will help an old GTX970 to use madvr for upscaling SD material to 1080p?  I need an graficcard with and hdmi and vga (or dvi i) output for touchpanel in pc case. Thats the reason why no actually card.

I use a MSI gt1030 low profile and have MadVR enabled.  I have a 1080p display and I'm happy with the picture quality I get from madvr

I have a GTX 1070  (Video Passmark of ~11285)  in my PC + UW Screen and a GTX 960 (Video Passmark of ~5996) for my Media Renderer + 4K LG TV.

With GTX 970 you are able to use the AI algorithm like NGU to a certain high level, if using 1080p resolution.

GTX 970 (Video Passmark of ~8633) does not support HDR, HDCP 2.2 and H.265 decoding, as far as I know. If you don't want t go the 4K route a GTX 970 is a more than enough card for madVR if using 1080p.

I don't know what the GTX 970 actual costs, a GTX 1060 is a more future proof card.

Hi and thanks for the answers.

Yes I hear from the 970 and no hdr.    At moment I have a fullhd TV but think about new one next year so it will became 4k and a newer card would be better yes.

I have an little 7" touchpanel on my pc so I need an card with hdmi and vga (or dvi i)   and the most newer cards don't have that.
I will look and search, maybe some has others ideas

All the GPUs I've seen these days have HDMI output, so that won't be an issue.

Misunderstood,  HDMI is not the problem,  I need for my touchscreen in pc case an vga output to the HDMI.

This vga is by new gtx cards very rare

I try to get a used GTX960.  Think is an good compromis between power and price.  And, the 960 has HDMI and an DVI-I where i can plug my 7" touchscreen via Adapter.

The 960 has full H.265 support with hdmi2.0 and hdcp2.2 (curious, its the older card than 970  980)   :)

HDR is not important for me at the moment cause theres not really material with native hdr and tv channels are very rare and not channels i use to watch regulary.  Testchannels dont interest me.

(at moment i have only fhd tv, so what)

I had issues with a 1050Ti, but now it's working perfectly using close to the default ROHQ settings.

I don't know what the power requirement for some of these other cards is but I will add that I use a 300 watt on my machine also.

Today I get an gtx960 gaming 4g and it's really great.

I make two profiles for sd material (<720) and one for hd  (>720  and <1080)  and it works good.

At moment I try some configs with linedoubling for upscaling sd to fhd and results really great.  No I can work with madvr.    The card runs with max 78% power so I have some reserve.  Temp don't rise over 60 degrees.    One config I found makes a more better picture but card runs with 98%  and I became some stutter by slow camera moves.  And the coils of the card starts to  "zirp" so theres not enough power for.

I will buy next year a 4k  TV,  then I also buy a new  actual card (oh this money "cry")
