I have suceeded in connecting a new install (from MJ8) of MC9 to a local media server, and it seems to be working ... except for the listing of the tracks available.  All 'artists' and 'genres' appear as they should on the left, but if I clik on a genre, the right panel just shows rectangular boxes in the column which should be listing the track titles.  I.E., the column headers appear, but the information does not.  However, if I do play a genre, an artist, or album, the playlist correctly shows the columns and information.

The MC install on the 'server' computer properly shows the column and info as it should (i.e., as did MJ8).

(Admittedly this might be a minor bug which is not a high priority on your list of things to do.)

You need to run the same version of MC on both PC's.

Both versions are MC9.0.174 ... the server version is 1.0.173 - protocol version 0.9.  The server computer info follows:

I wanted to update this post with respect to having installed the latest release (177) ... and the problem still exists.

It is somewhat frustrating because not seeing the tracks available off the server makes it difficult to choose which to play ... altho hovering the curser over the "box" will show the usual 'info box'.

To restate ... if I simply select a whole genre or a whole album, the track names, track time, kbps, (etc), do show in the playlist.

I can't reproduce it here. Are you sure using MC on the server has the right display? Check your file properties and see if anything unusual is there.

I cannot duplicate this type of problematic display on my server computer either (i.e., all track column are presnt and all track info is displayed).  Whereas I didn't have a library of music on the client, I copied several MP3s over and imported them.  If I ask for a display of these tracks (as artist, album, or genre), they do not show properly either ... so it is not a problem with client/server relationship ... just this install of MC9 on this laptop.  It's almost as if the "boxes" are a place holder for graphical info (e.g., album art) ... and the bottom box is much larger (same width, 4x height), and shows the track name below it (no other info ... e.g., no track#, time, etc).  Is there a preference setting somewhere for a "graphical display?

Regarding the tracks' properties ... it is much different than MJ8, but all info seems correct.

I have the most recent display driver installed, but it could still be something similar.

 I'm getting warm ... I found a options preference "tree & view settings" for "thumbnails", which can change the size of the "box", but not disable it(?)
