I have a new Receiver(Marantz SR7012 with Heos) that is wi-fi capable.  I had no problem getting it connected to our wi-fi network.
My purpose in upgrading my stereo is to play my JRiver library through my stereo.  I keep my music on a Dell Laptop (xps15).

I've read and tried numerous things under the WIKI but there is nothing that pops up allowing me to connect, either on my laptop or on my setup screen on the receiver. I want to be able to stream my music wireless from my laptop as well as my Android phone to the stereo.

Before I got rid of my desktop I could plug my phone to my car stereo and listen to my JRiver library.  I can hear my songs through Gizmo until I get out of wi-fi range but that's it.
Do you think porting is my whole problem on this new laptop or is it something else?

Please take a look at the DLNA topic on the wiki.  Your receiver is probably a DLNA Renderer.

You've got a few questions here and I'm not quite clear on everything.

Can you connect to MC now with Gizmo?

It sounds like you need to setup your Media Network. Once the Media Network is setup properly you should be able to play to your remote from outside your LAN.

To play to your AVR you should be able to use a remote like Panel or Gizmo. Choose the AVR as the destination or zone (or whatever it is called) and that should do it. It will probably even wake your AVR and go to the correct input so no need to power it on separately but you do lose a few seconds of the song as your gear powers on.

The Heos has nothing to do with this but I think your AVR will be on the same input as the Heos.

The specs of this machine do not specifically state DLNA/UPnP support, but it looks as if HEOS is where it is built in.

This is from a Denon (Marantz) support site:

"In DLNA terms, HEOS would be referred to as a Digital Media Controller (DMC) and a Digital Media Renderer. (DMR)"

So I think you're right in that if the AVR has its media network configured correctly and HEOS is enabled (if it has to be?) then MC should see it as a renderer.

I can't connect to Gizmo now for some reason.  I reset my passcode, I uninstalled and reinstalled Gizmo and used the new passcode but it won't connect. This is unusual since I am inside close to my network.

Hi Scobie, thanks for responding to my questions.

In Heos there is a Music Servers option but when I click on it my television screen comes up blank as well as the app on my phone.

Funny thing is I can play music from songs stored on my phone thru the Receiver but not from my laptop.

The part in the Wiki where it says click on Playing Now in JRiver doesn't show any network connections dropping down. 

I don't know if I need to adjust my router, something in JRiver or not.  I'm not a techie.  Just enough to be dangerous.

Do you know how your phone is attaching...it may be bluetooth?

Have you configured the network settings on the AVR? Can you ping it from your laptop?

I'm not an expert either but it sounds to me like your Media Sharing on the PC isn't setup properly. I don't know enough to give good advice other than check the wiki.

I have been having similar problems.  I used to use GIZMO app and it worked fine.  I was using it with headphone on my S9 and sounded great, 
I have since upgraded my internet modem and now I cannot connect to the Library.  I have used the security code shown in the tools/Media but it now longer likes it I also used the IP and it didn't work.
Not sure what to try next?

Gizmo wasn't working because my VPN was blocking other devices on my LAN.  Not only does Gizmo work but I am now able to see my Marantz SR7012 using HEOS.

I did something and all of my music disappeared from MC.  I'm assuming I just need to re-import my music files. 

Do I have to make a COPY of my library to Marantz SR7012 to play from my laptop or do I have to play everything from HEOS from my phone?? HEOS is not yet available for Windows.  They say they are working on it.

I am 80% happy right now!

I don't think there is any way to copy anything to Heos. Heos should see your media server. Also not sure how you deleted your library but MC usually has automatic backups so you should be able to restore.

I still think you are going about this the wrong way. Using a Media Center remote to push music to your Marantz is probably going to be a better experience. Maybe if I used a streaming service the Heos app would be useful but I think it stinks for accessing the music in MC. I don't use Gizmo anymore so I can't say much about it. I use Panel or Mo4media but I think Gizmo works the same way. On either of those remotes if you select your AVR as the "Play to" destination that should do it. Your whole MC library, playlists and all playing through you AVR. At most all you have to do on the AVR is turn it on and switch to the right input but I think it will happen automatically when you start pushing your music to it.

Oh, and if you use Panel it is browser based so it will run on Windows.
