WDM Driver Causing PC Crash on Sleep?
« on: January 28, 2019, 09:44:29 am »

I recently changed my Media Server PC (Windows 10 1809) so that it would sleep rather than remain fully on at all times. Since making that change I have come back several times to find the PC is completely shutdown and on reviewing the event log there are 'BugCheck' error messages and the other indicators of a system failure.

I have reviewed the memory dump file from the latest occurrence and the error is as shown below:

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)
A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000003, A device object has been blocking an Irp for too long a time
Arg2: ffffa7812490ad30, Physical Device Object of the stack
Arg3: ffffbc8a3fe298d0, nt!TRIAGE_9F_POWER on Win7 and higher, otherwise the Functional Device Object of the stack
Arg4: ffffa7812960a830, The blocked IRP

The devstack of the object is:

    !DevObj               !DrvObj                      !DevExt               ObjectName
    ffffa7812901bdc0  \Driver\ksthunk          ffffa7812901bf10  00000032
    ffffa7812924e880  \Driver\jrvad_service  ffffa7812924e9d0  00000031
>  ffffa7812490ad30  \Driver\PnpManager   00000000             00000010

Am I correct in thinking this indicates it is the WDM Driver at fault?

Thinking back I did have a number of similar occurrences on another PC that acted as an MC client, but never associated it with MC, nor checked the dump files.

I am running up-to-date MC and WDM versions.

Many thanks
