Random Display Setings automatic changes
« on: January 31, 2019, 05:00:22 am »

Hi there, weird problem. HTPC running at 2160p 24 FPS. Auto change Display Settings set to on, and seems to work fine when starting a video. But, when playing 1080p material, I get an occasional auto Display Change while the video is playing. Sound continues, but screen goes black for a few seconds and the projector info panel comes up, just as it does when there is a normal Auto Display change. will happen a couple of times within a few minutes and then not happen for a while. Doesn’t seem to be repeatable, or linked to a specific type of file or codec. Anyone else seen anything similar?

Did you try updating the video driver?

I tend to keep my drivers bang up to date, and am running the latest. This has been going on for a while (a few weeks) and I’ve updated the drivers at least once in that time. Nvidia gt1030 driver version 417.71 I’m reinstalling, but it’s very difficult to check as the problem is intermittent.

Sometimes the newest driver is the problem.

What is the physical connection?  HDMI?

Indeed it is. I've been replacing / upgrading the HDMI leads to handle 4k, so I'm reasonably confident in the quality of the physical connection. Ive never seen the problem occur when playing 4k material, with or without HDR.

Point taken about the driver....
