JRSS Subwoofer setting for 2 channel audio
« on: November 26, 2019, 04:57:35 pm »

Hi folks,

Using the latest version of MC25 (upgrading to MC26 before month's end) on Windows 10 64-bit.

My 2 channel setup consists of two passively driven, 3-way all-horn main speakers, high-passed at 78Hz via a Xilica XP-3060 to a pair of tapped horn subwoofers (actively fed by a Crown K2). Source is digital-only with music stored on a NAS feeding an SOtM DAC. Furthermore I have implemented DRC Designer under Convolution for correction in amplitude and time domain.

So far, when watching Blu-ray's, I've been using JRSS mixing with '2 channels (stereo).' Under Subwoofer settings I've chosen 'Downmix all frequencies (not recommended),' but is there a more appropriate setting in my particular case being that this setting is "not recommended" (and why not, really?)?

If I have only the L and R without subwoofer, what is the proper setting for Subwoofer?
Logically it would be Downmix all frequencies but why is this not recommended?
