Install stuck on Chromium component
« on: March 22, 2019, 12:55:15 pm »

Congrats on getting MC25 out for distribution.  My install is stuck at "Adding required components....Chromium".  How should I proceed?  Thanks.

Be sure to give it enough time. When I first installed, I thought Chromium was stuck downloading too, but after a while it did finish.

Check your firewall and make sure it's allowing Media Center 25 to both inbound and outbound.

This actually started happening to me on the last update of 24. I had to close MC with the task manager and then reopen it, and Chromium installed just fine.

Security software might do that.

Jim, all I'm using is Windows Defender, and it never happened until the 24.0.75 update.

It's still a possibility.  Something is blocking the download.

If you've taming Windows Defender, you'll have to redo the exceptions for MC25. Plus like I said above, check the firewall (e.g. Windows Firewall).

You could open MC24 and change the internet engine to Internet Explorer. Shut down MC24 and do the MC25 install which I think should just use Internet Explorer. Then switch to the Chromium engine and see if it installs correctly. Just a shot in the dark.

Same problem. Update to 25.0.104 stuck on adding Chromium components. See attached Windows settings (Swedish language).

I had to cancel... What to do?

This happens to me all the time too and I've never been able to suss it out. Sometimes switching back and forth between the Browser Engine options "unsticks" it.

...and only happens with Chromium (at least for me). madVR and such have always downloaded without problems I have just reluctantly switched to use IE to save me the hassle.

Can I switch to IE without any further actions (considering that I cancelled the installation)? That is; no need to re-install, or?

Thanks!
