How can we get back all 4 Radio Paradise channels.  I lost 2 of them with this upgrade (Rock, Electric)  MC25 still has them and can play all 4.
I've got that fixed in Beta but I was hoping to get the changes for search fixed first. I might not wait, that's taking longer that I want...

Thanks!  Remoting into the MC25 for the two missing channels is a pain.  I wish I knew this before I updated as I was happy with the prior version.  Good work.

I am still confused about the sorting options for articles (same in 3.29 and 3.30). The first image shows how the articles are set in MC25. As you can see I added "le; la;". In MC25 this works exactly like I expected (choosing an album starting with "L" brings me to "The Lady in the Van".
The second image shows that in JRemote the only possibility is to ignore the articles "a; an; the" in sorting and that this option is turned on.
The third image shows that the album "La Divina" is rightfully sorted under "D", but.... if I hit the "L" in the alphabet-bar at the right side of the screen in the app, the screen will point me to "La Divina" and not to "The Lady in the Van".
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

I see that 3.30 has been released.  So awesome to see JRiver get more love.  It is a wonderful app (as is JRiver).  Thanks!

regarding JRemote 3.30: PDF(assets) view in an own window, and not to expand to full screen. Sorry if this is a feature, than it's not a good feature. Now it's not longer possible to read a PDF booklet without zooming. For which reason have you done that? tested on an iPad Air2, latest iPadOS, it makes no sense for me to read a booklet on an iPhone.
Edit: next problem, some pdfs crash JRemote during page scrolling.

There is still an issue with choosing the letter in albums with the article sorting turned on. The sorting is correct but the shortcut jump is not.

We didn't (intentionally at any rate) change that function.
What is the lastest iOS for the Air2? Is is on 13?
Note that the UI is NOT the same between the iPhone and iPad views.

The iOS is also version 13.2.3
I know there are some difference, no idea what however.

I can see issues in the simulator but if you have one of the specific issue you are seeing it's always useful to attach a screenshot.

here it is, pdf was shown in fullscreen in 3.29 and now in 3.30 in an own window. Sure, this one is possible to read, but for a lot of pdfs it's easier to have the full screen.

If you are talking about the iOS version you have 3 settings for bitrate.

I see settings for sampling rate, not bit-rate.

Settings->Audio Transcode quality

If you don't see this you aren't using the iOS version

Is there a way to add a navigation panel to JRemote (or Web Gizmo)?  I'd like to up up/down/left/right/select buttons to be able to navigate Blu ray menus.  If there is a customization thread, would appreciate a pointer to it.

Thanks.

JRemote 3.30.  I get a fairly regular error.  The current volume level displays in large format (covers most of the screen after I change the volume) and can’t be eliminated short of a JRemote reload.  The volume level screen used to just time out.

This is my number one feature request as well, and what keeps me looking for other solutions all the time. I would love to just use JRemote, as it works so well streaming. nPlayer lets me access the dlna server Media Center sets up, and also downloads tracks to the phone for offline play, but it's a pretty crude file browser that often messes up track order and doesn't use art well (sounds great though). I'd even pay more for a download option on JRemote.

Been looking for this since Remote came out - I check back in here every now and then...here's hoping its under secret development.

As others have said I'd upgrade to MC26 (from 23) if thats what got it done.

I use JRemote more and more as a remote control for JRiver.

My main issue is the audio/video engine and streaming when JRemote is used as player. I want lossless streaming for audio and video, i.e. no transcoding. Why does JRemote does not support this? Why does it only support mandatory lossy transcoding for music and unknown and untransparent transcoding for video?

It's likely a limitation of iOS' AvPlayer, whereas with JRemote2 and ExoPlayer2, getting native playback with formats like FLAC are possible (even gapless playback is possible). Don't think AvPlayer even supports FLAC, unless I'm mistaken, it's been awhile since I researched any into that situation.

Bottom line, iOS is limited when comparing to Android and AvPlayer can't hold a candle to ExoPlayer2. That's why JRemote2 was developed for Android and not happening for iOS at all.

Thanks, but there are enough ios players which support 24bit 192Khz, including Roon.

Don't think bit-depths/sample rates are the issue there, it's AvPlayer itself and what formats it natively supports (and doesn't support). It's probably likely native playback without transcoding is possible, but the amount of formats it could support through AvPlayer is likely the issue. Like if native FLAC playback isn't supported, that's potentially a major deal breaking issue for a lot of users. If that's indeed the case, there's a chance JRiver can't do anything about it either on iOS platforms due to platform limitations and restrictions.

Those issues... well, maybe except the video crashing thing, aren't related to AvPlayer.

The 'video crashing thing' is a major bug with JRemote for me.  After this much time, and after this many requests for information by me and others on this and other threads, I can't help but draw my own conclusion that not answering the question is answering the question.

They (JRiver) has answered that particular question some time ago, I remember Hendrik explaining the cause of the video crashing issue. So they know what causes it, but it's something that's not easy to fix at all. Jim has recently said that development on JRemote for iOS hasn't ceased or ended. It's just slow and likely lower on the their to-do list at the moment.

As for the other issues like search issues and whatnot, Bob already said too he hasn't been able to reproduce them in the simulator yet. See, being able to reproduce it on the actual device is one thing, but the developers need to be able to reproduce it and debug it at the same time, which is what the simulator is for.

Honestly, from my personal perspective (remember, I don't work for JRiver and I'm just another user like you guys) if I was going to be in the market for a new phone soon and being able to use JRemote was extremely important to me, I would highly consider getting an Android phone instead of an iPhone, because no matter how you look at it JRemote2 for Android will always very likely be superior to JRemote for iOS, mainly due to the limitations and restrictions iOS (and AvPlayer) has versus the Android OS (and ExoPlayer).

Fair enough but not going to happen in my case (I assume there's others as well).  As much as I love JRiver, I'd find something else.  I view JRemote on iOS integral to the experience.

With transcoding disabled in JRemote (iOS) settings, it will play Flac and Alac natively up to the limits of the DAC in the iDevice.

Does that mean that with an external DAC attached to the phone (in my case Audioquest Dragonfly or Chord Mojo) it will play 24 bit 192 KHz like the Qobuz player, etc.

How is the DAC connected?  USB?  If so, then it will probably work.

As far as the video is concerned. Settings in the JRemote for video list a maximum. Is maximum the same as No Transcoding and thus same quality as original video file.

For video, it has to be transcoded since the video player will only play a live stream in one particular format.

Actually, that's not true. The m4v and mp4 files will attempt to play in their native format. Others will be transcoded.
