Negative Lip Sync value, stuttering of audio and video
« on: February 16, 2020, 05:47:03 am »

Hello,

i am new to this forum.

I have JRiver 26 installed on a HTPC with Windows 8.1 (HTPC).
I also have an Audio PC for a FIR Filter (Audio PC with Acourate Convolver with FIR Filter and XO...). I use this Audio PC for DSP, XO and FIR Filter for all my sources (CD Player, Squeezbox and also for the HTPC).

The FIR Filter has a latency of about 800ms. So i need a negativ Lip Sync value of about -800ms in my HTPC.

This works of all kind of videos (PAL videos, 1080i, 1080p, 576i, 480i...).
The only thing that does not work with the negative Lip Sync are DVDs and ripped DVDs.

With DVDs a negative Lip Sync only works to the value of about -200ms. With a higher negative value, the video starts to stutter (strong stuttering of the audio and video). Again with other kind of videos (see above) Lip Sync values of -800ms works.

Has anybody an idea?

Thanks in advance.

DVD is pretty particular with how it likes its playback to behave, since it's primarily driven by a Microsoft component that does the menu stuff. There might not be a way to resolve that.
