MC Crashes from long Pauses
« on: April 24, 2003, 07:11:33 am »

MC9.159 and all versions that I've tested in the last few weeks (to ~9.149) crash after repeated long pauses...
1. -
Playlists>Auto Smartlists (music)>Random 1 Data Cd worth.
2.-
Double-click first song in smart list to transfer to Playing now.
3.-
Click the Playing now ICON to see songlist and visualization. (I have the Endless Way visualization going.)
4.-
Hit pause because your boss walks by to chat for 5-10 minutes.
5.-
Hit pause again for similar reason (and possibly one more time...)
6.-
When you click play to start listening again, the visualization flickers a little, no sound comes out, and the program is locked. ?
You can still click the upper right X, but XP reports that the program in not responding...You have to click "End Now" to get out...
I've had it happen 5 times or so...
Hope it does it for you as well...

If you disable visualizations, can you still make it crash?

We haven't been able to reproduce this one in house.

Thanks!

Also, will both WaveOut and DirectSound crash?  It could be a driver implementation issue.  (under Options -> Playback)

Thanks a lot for helping!
