BUG: Problems with Tivo Refresh of Folders
« on: April 15, 2003, 08:25:31 pm »

Anyone else here using Tivo HMO and this program please respond.  Is anyone noticing that drawing the folders on the tivo is EXTREMELY SLOW?  I hit page down and have to wait a few seconds for it to draw the folders.  If I page down a few pages, forget it, its taking awhile to catch up.  And if you ever press the advance to end of list button [the new 4.0 feature to toggle between top and bottom of a list], it will sit there with the blank folders for quite sometime, before it eventually draws them in.  I have about 200-250 folders.

Doing this exact same thing with TivoPublisher the drawing is MUCH MUCH MUCH faster, no need to wait when hit advance to end, etc.

This is a dealbreaker for me.  I have also, though non-reproducable, seen the screen redraw just be messed up and have to back up to get it to redraw correctly, but thats only happened twice.

Other then this, great product, adds many things to the HMO experience, and I must say does a few things TivoPublisher should but doesn't.  Ie.  It will play my 2hr. long continuous mp3's, TivoPublisher times out on anything above about an hour and a half.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,
If there is a problem we'll find it and fix it.  Anything you can do to narrow it down would help.

If you think it's the number of folders, try setting up a new library in MC (under File/Library/Library Manager).  Then import a few folders and test.

What kind of images?  jpg?  How big?

Something is different and knowing what it is will allow John Gateley to fix it.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

This is with MP3's.  I have not even tried to import any jpg/gif's into media center yet.  I will try to do that when I get home tonight if I have time.  I will also import a smaller Library to see if that helps the redraw problems.

Thanks,

Jeff

Do the MP3's have embedded images?

"Jump to the end" is a bug, it should be fixed in the next build (tomorrow?).
I can't reproduce the slow down paging. I notice about a quarter of a second pause between going off the bottom of the page and display of the next page.

ID3 tags allow an image file to be embedded.  Please try a search at google.  You should find a good description.

If you ripped the files, they probably don't have images embedded.
