JRiver MC, Lumin X1 and DSD512
« on: June 30, 2021, 09:48:39 am »

Hi,

I am trying to play some DSD512 (DoP) files on my Lumin X1 with no success.  DSD128, and probably DSD256, works but I have not confirmed that DSD256 will.  The DSD512 files play fine via Minimserver and the Lumin app on iOS.

Other than possibly asking JRiver to convert the files on playback is there any way to have Media Center and the Lumin X1 play nicely together when it comes to DSD512 material?

Thanks much!

Looking at the info for the Lumin X1, as far as I can tell DSD512 support on it works with native DSD, not DoP. This is backed up by the fact that the DAC has a max sample rate of 768 kHz which (if I recall correctly) maxes out DoP support to DSD256.

DSD512 (8x) is typically done with native sample rates, not DoP. But, if you can do 512 on IoS, that  seems to indicate that DoP is being used, because IoS does not typically support native DSD sample rates.  The Lumin app on IoS may be doing some magic.  I would agee with AD and try native DSD512 sample rate, although the fact that it works on IoS is a little confusing.
