Moving directories in MC9
« on: March 28, 2003, 11:47:26 am »

I know it's possible to move individual files around either with the Move / Copy Files option or by renaming them from the Library Tags.  However, sometimes it's important for me to maintain the name of the directory the files are in so I want to just move the whole directory from one location to the other.  Is this possible?

Right now, I'm removing the files from the library, moving the directory by hand, then re-importing them.  There must be away to copy directories of mp3s.

I was under the impression that this was what the My Computer node was added to the tree for. But it doesn't seem to be working for me. So either it's not supposed to do that, or it's bugged right now.

Dragging & Dropping in the My Computer tree should work...but doesn't (B135).

What you get is a "Failed to update the following files..." error message. Files are NOT moved yet the DB shows them as moved if you check out their location.

For now you'll have to select the files, right click, and select Library Tools>Move/Copy file.

Yeah, it seems as though MC's entire renaming files function isn't working right. The same thing happens when you try to Rename Files from Properties.

xen-uno, doesn't using Move/Copy file not preserve the directory structure, though?
