MJ Icon and File Associations
« on: January 13, 2003, 04:22:01 pm »

I have tried to remove the file associations within MJ via "Settings", "Options" and File Associations.  Everytime I remove them, I close the dialog box and then go back to the settings and find the boxes are checked again for a variety of file types (avi etc.).  How do I fix this issue?

Also, the MJ icon appears on my video files as well as my Music Files and when I look at the properties the file is called a Media Jukebox file...?  Help!

PS - I searched the Message Board and Help and found that the solution with file associations mentioned above does not work.

Thanks!  boboso

And you have also made sure to uncheck the option Always Take Control Of Filetypes?

Yes, this option was never checked (but I double checked).  All File Assoc. have been unchecked, as well as the option "Always Take Control Of Filetypes?"   After unchecking file associations, they reappear once again as checked when I go back to the options settings.  I have also checked to insure that file types under XP settings are correct as well.

Are the file types associated with a program other than MJ?  If not, maybe try going into the options of the  program that you want associated with the files and making sure that you have them associated there.

I also don't have any file types associated with MJ/MC, but once in awhile it steals back the .m3u association from Winamp and I have to go back into Winamp and steal it back.
