I am interested in moving to MC30. My latest licence is MC25 having started on MC17.

The determining question for me is which versions of macOS and Windows is MC30 compatible with. Is MC30 fully functional on Windows 7, 8, 10, 11? Is it fully functional on macOS Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura? Does it require a 64 bit operating system?

I have searched in vain for any such information on this website so apologies if this is documented somewhere.

I've seen Jim say that Windows 7 is no longer supported, so probably not a good idea to use it. And Windows 8.1's extended support from Microsoft is going to end in January so I personally wouldn't recommend using it either. Windows 10 or 11 is the way to go. You can use the 32-bit version of MC on those versions of Windows, but unless you have plugins that are 32-bit only I'd recommend giving the 64-bit version a go.

Regarding macOS, it's a 64-bit only OS so the 64-bit operating system question is moot for macOS.

To use Media Center on both Windows and macOS it's probably best to purchase a master license that can be used on both.

I didn't see a response on what platform for Mac that MC30 will support.  For me I have an earlier 2011 MacBook Pro that tops out on High Sierra (version 10.13.6). MC29 requires version 10.11 or later, so I'm currently good.  Will MC30 run on 10.13?

My position is similar. I have an iMac that is stuck on Catalina which is running MC21. I did have a master licence once. My music database is on 64 bit Windows 7 where I currently have MC25, although I also have a Windows 10 laptop.

I would upgrade to an MC30 Master licence for the latest features and fixes if it was going to run for me but I have no way of knowing and there is no free trial yet. Hence the question.

Bob or Hendrik are probably the ones who can answer what the minimum macOS version will be required for MC30. It's probably safe to assume it'll be at least 10.11 like MC29, but I guess it depends if they need any of the newer features found in newer macOS releases or Xcode forces a bump of the minimum macOS requirement. Probably best to wait and see what either one has to say there.

As for Windows, as mentioned previously Jim has said Windows 7 is no longer supported. Windows 8.1 technically is still supported, but I would personally recommend that you avoid using it as extended support for it ends in January 2023 (which is just a few months away) and there will be no more security updates from Microsoft. Ultimately that basically means your choices for Windows are (and should be) either Windows 10 and Windows 11. Windows 10 is probably the best one for most users, especially if your hardware doesn't officially support Windows 11's minimum hardware requirements.

Thanks Awesome Donkey for your response. Hopefully Bob  or Hendrik  reply before the weekend so I will know to whether to  purchase a Master License, as I run both Linux and macOS’s and I think  it best to keep the MC versions the same.

Well bought a Master License anyways. For now I will continue to support JRiver and hope that it will be able to run also on my Mac High Sierra. I imagine at some point in the future it won’t.

10.11 should remain the minimum version for MC30. Can't really speak for beyond that. There have been cases where Apple forces an upgrade too.
