Problem with playlist.
« on: September 18, 2022, 09:49:18 pm »

Hi All,
I am using MC28 still, and when I create a playlist, my music is on D:\ drive,

When I load the playlist onto my laptop PC, it only has a C:\ drive.

When I try to play the music, which is loaded onto the laptop, MC says it cannot find any songs?

Is the issue here that MC is looking for the tunes on D: drive and can't find them?

Thanks!

I would say yes, the issue is MC can't find the tunes.  If you created the playlist for music on D:, and then try to play the playlist on a device with no D:, MC looks for D:... so no tunes.  I'm not sure I know your process.  Are you exporting playlists from one computer and importing the playlist to the laptop, or are you just copying the tracks over to the laptop?

Hi,
I am importing playlists from 1 pc to another (laptop) pc.

I wonder if I can modify the playlist by opening it, and modifying the path?  I haven't tried that yet.

This seems to be a silly problem... pathing.. :)

If your playlists are in a text form (M3U, MPL, etc) then sure:  Just open them with a text editor and do a search and replace from C:\ to D:\ .

Note that the "Export Playlist" button only exports the names/paths of the files to a text file, it does not export the audio files themselves. So if you take that playlist to a different machine, it won't find the files because the paths only exist on the source machine (unless you have them on a NAS, accessible by all machines in the network).

MC has a Find and Replace under Library Tools.  Select the files, then right click.
