Radio Station Help Please.
« on: March 02, 2003, 02:00:19 am »

Hokay. So much to try in this great program, so little time:)

I wanted to have a bash @ listening to my current fave radio station through MC. The stream link is like so....

http://www.realradiofm.com/audio.cfm?location_id=164044

The file is an .asf file, and in the "add stations" dialogue, .asf is not an option in the filetype dropdown so I went with windows media audio. Now, if i enter this link in internet explorer, I get a file download dialogue for the file "rrs.asf" which is a "mediajukebox.File" type. If I enter this url into the MC "add radio station" dialogue, then ask to listen to it, MC pops a warning dialogue stating that I must select files to play.

So, is it a bug, or user brainfade? If it's the latter, any chance someone could help me out here?

tia :)

Tried this with version 124, and I'm not too sure what's up, but it's still not working here.
I'm going to assume it's not working from the "my stations" area of web media because it's not been added to the musicex database yet. Correct?

so, I clicked [ File > Open streaming file ] and pasted the url into the dialogue box. MC then added this to playing now, and then hung.....
http://www.realradiofm.com/audio.cfm?location_id=164044/~~~stream~~~.mp3

If I clink the link in explorer, the original one, not the one with the mp3 extension, I get a file download dialogue. If I choose to open the file from its location, MC opens up and pops a warning dialogue asking me to "please select file to play". If I choose to download the file instead, I get the file "rrs.asf". Double clicking this file opens MC, then nothing. Opening this file in notepad shows

Ref1=http://62.25.96.7:80/rrs/
and entering the quoted url in either MC or IExplorer repeats the above behaviour.

Any more ideas/suggestions?

While reading the forum I clicked on the link in the post and it started media center and the station started to play. Looks like I have no problem...

It may be the version of WMP.  What version do you have?

Also what version of MC?

Marko,

URL (http://www.realradiofm.com/audio.cfm?location_id=164044) points to a playlist instead of streaming file, and because the URL does not have an extension we assume that it's mp3 streaming file.

In MC 9.0.124 you should be able to click on the link and play the station.

WMP version is 8, I think. The one that shipped on the XP cd anyways, I've never upgraded it and go out of my way not to use it.
Also, using MC version 9.0.124.
System info from MC.....

jeffh.......
I hate you  ;) :P ;D

Nikolay, I'm using v124 atm, installed over the top of version 123. I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling 124 from clean and report back.

Thnx for the replies:)
