This is my first time installing MC9.  I installed it and chose to restore my library from a backup (MJ and it presents me with the Confirm Library Upgrade dialog.

I can understand upgrading my library..  But what does it mean when it proposes to "Re-analyze your media files"  ?

I've got 5000 APE's fully tagged and replay gained from MJ version 8..   Before I hit the 'Yes' button I would like to know E-X-A-C-T-L-Y what's going to happen..  Can someone help explain this please?  Will MJ8 continue to play these files after the "re-analysis" is done?

I've searched through the forum and only find threads about replay gain, not much about upgrading and re-analyzing.

there are some new things in analyze, like BPM and i think 1 or two other fields.

it is more for info than sound level.

but i think Matt tweeked the RPG Analyze also.

Thanks King,   So if I click yes it means that MC will re-analyze for replay gain?   That's gonna take a long time.

Does it do anything else?  My APE files are from various versions of Monkey's Audio.  Is there any APE conversion going on here?  And if so, would it be better to wait for MA 4 ?

All it's doing is re-reading the tags.  It needs to know things like "Media Type" (audio / image / etc.) and a bunch of other stuff that the MJ 8 database didn't have.

It's safe.  No worries.
