Watching TV shows....
« on: April 01, 2024, 01:11:21 am »

OK, last night I watched (binge watched) a favorite TV show that I have stored in the realm of MC.

My first observation, MC presented the video of that show to me in a most excellent manner.  Thank-you for that.

But (yeah, you knew there had to be a "but")...

And I am not sure how to describe what I see here, so let me take you on my travels...

I start at the top of the Theater mode.

I select Video.

Then I select Shows

Then I select a show (in this instance, 3rd Rock From the  Sun)

Then I select Season 01

Then I select Brains and Eggs (the first episode of season 01)

OK, here is where I have an issue.

Lots of pretty (and, for me, irrelevant) pictures from TMDB

... But all the info about the episode, info that I had crafted via Tools>Options>Customize file info panel, seems to be lost.

Is that a new trend for MC?

Telling me what I want to see as opposed to allowing me to select what I want to see?

I mean, if I may say this, the reason why I abandoned iTunes years ago and moved to MC was that Apple started down this path of not only telling me what I wanted to see, but also overriding my choices in this area.

So, a serious question...

Is this the new path forward for JRiver, i.e., overriding user preferences?

"Active file info template for TV Shows using Spotlight data" were just added to TV Shows in version 32.0.26
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,138052.0.html

Check over there and maybe post suggestions of what else you would like to see. The templates can be modified yourself. I think you can revert or undo them somehow? But all those expressions go over my head  ;D

Thanks.

I read that thread, and now i am more confused than ever.

Where in the Options>Theater View menu do I modify the templates, or revert them to the prior format?

Thanks again for the reply.

Options > Theater View > Customize file info panel > Manage > Import All templates and select a backup that has what you want.

Thanks, also, for that pointer.  As I said earlier, I had read it, but I was in more of a ~what happened~ mode.

I'll look at the thread again, and try to participate, now that my immediate and significant issue has been resolved.

For starters, i think the pretty pictures from TMDB may be useful in appropriate places.  And that HUGE BOLD font used for the episode name, well, yeah, that needs to be toned down a bit.

But, I'll go over to the recommended thread and make these comments there.

Many thanks to trz0916 and cncb for their able assistance on this thread!

This MC Community is awesome!
