Firewire CDRs, has anyone gotten them to work?
« on: January 04, 2003, 03:03:33 am »

Yo People,

Try as I might, I simple cannot get MC9 to actually burn anything on my Firewire CD-Rs. Neither my old machine nor my brand new one, with a clean OS and application install, will burn with MC9. Other apps work just fine. I have the latest Adaptec ASPI (4.7.2) and the drives are recognized by MC9.

They only things I can think of that that both these machines have is:
1) Two processors.
2) SB Audigy Platinum EX 1394 ports.
3) Win XP

I could try a different 1394 card but I thought before I go to that trouble, I would ask the question: Has anyone ever gotten a Firewire (1394) CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn a disc in MC9?

Nope.

My TDK drive works fine when it's attached to the IDE controller but when I moved it to a Firewire enclosure, burning died.

I have the same SB Audigy but I wouldn't put any significance in that.  The Firewire ports on these things are completely separated from the audio functions and work perfectly for other apps/devices.  Nero rips and burns perfectly.

I've tried both single and multi cpu machines (W2K on both), no difference there.

Maybe you should Ask JohnT if this has been tested On USB And Firewire Burners.

Yep.  I already posted about this in the "Does your burner..." thread but figured with the holidays and all...
