Problem with TV-Out
« on: December 02, 2002, 09:29:21 am »

Hi,

I am having problems in getting any avi videos visible on TV with MediaCenter 9.0.8.4.

All I can get from my TV-Out is a purple screen on TV.
I am not an expert with this issue, but FS/HS modes and different resolutions are not an answer to this.

When using WinDVD the TV shows everything ok.
On monitor everything shows ok also.

I am using PAL-B TV standard with the latest Nvidia drivers in a clone mode.
I have rather old graphic card Asus V7100.

Sorry if there's an answer posted somewhere in the board, couldn't find it...
If you can help I'd be really pleased and happy to change into using only MediaCenter as my playback software :)

Do you have a regular monitor and a TV?  Does the MJ full screen show up on either?

If you can get to full screen though the menu, check the settings for it.  Right click on the screen and go to display/fullscreen/and the options for it.  Try 640x480.

Hi,

thanks for advice but it didn't help me.
Yap, I have both monitor and TV connected into my computer.

I also noticed that MC is actually using Windows Media Player to play avi files, so I guess I'm gonna start solving problem via MS :)

So, then, I think that the problem is with the resolution you're sending the TV or with the refresh rate.  I'm assuming that the signal is getting there since you description sounded like something happened on the TV when you started playback.

As a test, lower your desktop resolution and switch the full screen to "use desktop resolution".  Check the TV's docs to see what refresh rate it will support.

Slowly getting there...

I got the TV-Out to work in Windows Media Player by
disabling the Overlay settings AND exiting the player
after settings change...

But the picture still is not visible through MediaCenter
trying to figure out those overlay settings for the MC...
