Giving Hairstyle the jump on Freestyle!!
« on: October 11, 2002, 01:56:49 am »

Just thought I would post this link:

http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/windowsxp_mediacenter.asp

Its the first review of Windows XP Media Center Edition.  The interface is looking really good and it has some really nice features but as the review shows it still has a few of the usual M$ glitches!!

I think if you guys could take all the good things from this, the ease of use, the quality of the interface, the quality of the TV guide, improve on the bad things and add a few little tricks of your own you would have an absolutely killer product on your hands!!

I am really excited about the potential of this after seeing what M$ have already done I know you guys can make it better and I won't need to spend $1800 to buy a XP MCE PC!  I am seriously considering building a HTPC and using it to power everything.  The futures bright, the futures MJ9 (or should I say Media Center 9)

Thanks for the heads up.

And I'd give the HTPC idea a big thumbs up.  I just love mine.

Thats okay Matt!! Just keep up the good work.  MJ9 is getting really good.  Once the databse is truly flexible it is gonna be amazing for organization.  Just one Q.  Is it possible to use custom db fields in sorts/view schemes yet only I dont seem to be able to get mine to work.  WOnt register the custom field as an entity in the view scheme, just shows all files.

Cheers

Try the DB field thing again next build.  And make sure to give it a search keyword (like vocalist=) or else it gets confused when making views.

Nice one.  Added a search field and that has sorted it.  A little extra knowledge goes a long way ;D

Cheers Matt
