Registry.reg File Corrupt
« on: September 03, 2002, 08:41:05 am »

Why would someusers say that the program when it is installing say that the registy.reg is corrupt and others it installs fine?

I see nothing wrong with the registry.reg file would it be there system?

Is there a way to fix it?

Is there something to look for?

If I see this correctly, some reg-files are encoded using unicode. You might not see this with notepad if you are using WinXP or Win2K.
This would be my first suggestion: Check the encoding.
You could export the registry-tree-item yourself from regedit, so that you definitly know this is a functional version of the reg-file. But I don't think you can choose "unicode" or "ascii".

Second guess might be, that the users use different reg-formats. As far as I remember I usually use "ver 5"-headers. Maybe there are different version around (especially Win95, I think they have ver4).

I just looked it shows up as Unicode, I wonder if it matters.
