Problems upgrading from Media Jukebox8
« on: October 11, 2003, 08:08:26 pm »

I am a registered user of Media Jukebox 8, and I'd like to upgrade to Media Center 9, but I'm not having any success.

I want to buy just the 'upgrade' version, which I understand is only available by installing the 'demo' version of Media Center 9 and selecting the 'upgrade' option in the help menu.

When I download and install the current 'demo' version of Media Center 9 from your website, it seems to install fine, but when I go to launch it prompts me with the message 'This feature is not available. Your 30 day trial period is up.', even though I just installed it today!

The program then quits and I can't do anything else.

I've tried completely de-installing Media Center 9 and Media Jukebox 8, re-installing each separately, etc... but so far can't get Media Center 9 to work.

Media Jukebox 8 works fine, and let's me enter my activition key fine.
I am using the most current verion of Media Jukebox 8 (or at least no updates show as available when clicking on the 'check for updates' section of the 'help' menu) and it shows as correctly registered to me.

What am doing wrong, or how should I proceed? I can't find anywhere on your website that will allow me to buy just the upgrade version of Media Center 9.

Thanks,

to my knolage this only happens if mc9 was installed before.

do you know what version of MC9 your trying to use?

if it is not the current version 9.1.274 i think it is you may wish to try that, not that it will get you pass the warning, but i would think that it should give you a chance to upgrade.

make sure MJ8 is registered before trying to install MC9.1 over top of MJ8

Thanks for the suggestion... I grabbed the 9.1.274 version, re-installed MJ8 and MC9 from scratch, and this time it let me get into the 'upgrade' section.

Cheers,
