Using DSP plugins - how?
« on: October 20, 2003, 07:31:27 am »

Well, I was curious to try out the MC DirectX Host plugin, so I installed it. All went well, it told me the package installed successfully, and I can see it in the plug-in manager.

Now what?

How/where do I install DirectX plugins? I've found a page with a ton of them, but it's not clear where they go, or what I have to do in MC9 to make them work.

Here's the site with the DirectX plugins:

http://www.thedirectxfiles.com/plugins.htm

And here's the MC9 DirectX host plugin, that should allow these to be used:

Good luck!

I love that directx plugin.

I can't remember which plugin I had in there but it was just pounding my system. I turned up the lowest band I could, cranked it up, and it was just shaking my car.  8)

I think it was one of the Sonic Foundry plugins but I'm not sure at the moment.

So... how did you get it working?

I've downloaded it and it shows up in the plug-in manager, but now what? And how do I install the directX plugins?

Well this one was installed by MC back when they included the plugin with the download. I'm not really sure now but it should be listed in DSP studio if it is installed.

Well, I just checked in DSP studio in my install of build .280, and sure enough, there it is. Looks pretty straightforward for adding/activating plugins.

However, I could swear it isn't appearing in my install of build .281 (two different computers).

Well, I guess I shouldn't try to do this stuff when I haven't had enough sleep. Sure enough the DirectX Host plugin is in DSP Studio as it should be.

Plugins are working fine - I'm using the one for Vinyl effects now, very effective!
