I'm using MC 9.1.289 with the Nomad NX plugin v 9.0.27 and am having the following issues:

1) Cannot upload to the Nomad.  When I click the Transfer button, the Device Transfer Progress dialog appears, but hangs there.  I have to click the Cancel button to get out of it.

2) Cannot consistently download from the Nomad NX to the PC.  This was successful one time, but every other time it starts the transfer, then throws up the Download Error message box after some number of bytes have been transferred.

Every other function appears to be working.  I can list the files on the Nomad, and can delete files off the Nomad as well.  I can also transfer files to and from the Nomad using Creative's MediaSource software without any problems.

My configuration is:

WinXP Pro SP1
MC 9.1.289
Nomad Zen NX plugin 9.0.27
Nomad Zen NX FW 1.00.05 (latest)

MC on this machine is running in "client mode" connecting to another machine running MC server.

Any suggestions?

The problem is in running Media Server. I will try to get this working next week.

That's great!  Thanks!  It's pretty painful using Creative's MediaSource after being spoiled wth Media Center.

One question, though.  I can understand why this configuration might affect the ability to download to the Nomad (with having to send the mp3 file over the wire first), but I don't understand why it would also affect sending from the Nomad to a local drive on the MC client machine.  This seems like it's a purely local operation (no server involved).  Just curious...

I cannot duplicate the problem transferring files from Nomad to the PC. Are you seeing any specific error message?

In regards to the Media Server files to the Nomad, this is possible but the overhead to make it work is not worth it right now. Perhaps in a future version.

Of course, I'm disappointed about the server support, but I understand.  I'm going to put a USB 2.0 card in the server and just work from that for now (it seems to work fine using the existing USB 1.1 ports from the server).

With regard to the Nomad to PC transfer, I tried this on a different PC (with only USB 1.1), and it seems to work.

This one is a notebook PC with USB 1.1.  Also note that SysInfo says that the CPU is "259 MHz", but it's really 700 MHz.

I don't know if the difference in the USB speed is an issue (i.e. timing), or whether the OS has anything to do with it, but it is very repeatable.  In case it matters, these are both client machines connecting to Media Server.  If there is any other info I can provide, please let me know.

I also have a couple of other questions regarding file names and playlists, but I'll post them separately.

Thanks for your reasonableness. On the PC that fails, have you tried directing the files to some different locations? Also, any specific error messages?
