COnverting files
« on: October 30, 2003, 07:11:07 am »

I am trying to upgrade to 9 and let the program convert all of my version 8 files. It converts about 1700 out of 3000 files and then hangs on one file. It never proceeds beyond that file and it doesn't time out. If I could determine which file was causing the problem I would delete it. Any ideas?

Are you converting the files or simply doing an import?

Converting--When I run MC9 the first time, it's telling me that it has to convert all of my files before it can run.

First, make sure you're using MC 9.1 instead of MC 9.0, because it may have fixed the problem.

If it's still there, try this (icky but will probably work)

1) rename your main music folder (to "music 1" or whatever)
2) upgrade -- MC won't find any of the files
3) close MC
4) rename your music folder back to "music"
5) start MC and manually "Update Library From Tags" for your files (select files -> right-click -> library tools -> Update Info From Tags (always))

It may still stick on one file, but work in batches until you find the file.

If you find a problem file, please send it to matt @ jriver.com (no spaces) so we can fix the problem.

Thanks!
