Cover art and Archos AV3x0
« on: November 04, 2003, 07:01:44 pm »

I've got an Archos AV3x0, and have been using Media Center for ages now to create and manage all the MP3s on the PC.

Unfortunately, whilst the AV3x0 supports cover art stored in the MP3s, I can't get Media Center to create them in the right way. Trouble is, I don't know exactly what it's doing wrong...

I've tried setting the option to store the cover art in the MP3, but that doesn't help.

I've posted on a forum dedicated to the Archos AC3x0 and there were a few people who'd contacted Archos about it. Apparently the response was "use MusicMatch, that does it".

Unsurprisingly, I'd like to be able to use Media Center to do it for me, and I suspect it's not that far off doing it correctly anyway.

Indeed, MusicMatch was able to add the cover art in in a way that the AV3x0 then sees. Media Center is actually completely oblivious to the change, which I guess suggests that they really are using two different methods of storing the cover art.

I confess I don't understand the internal structure of MP3 tags very well - are there different ways of storing cover art?

If it helps, I can make two sample MP3s available - one that works and one that doesn't....

Rob,

If you can send the two files (one that works and one that doesn't) that would be a big help in sorting this out.

Thanks,
