« on: November 10, 2003, 05:00:00 pm »

This is the latest build.  There may be some known (and unknown) bugs.

The latest known stable version of 9.1 is here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/download.html

The latest build of 9.1 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter91300.exe

History
1. Fixed: When searching numeric fields, MC would parse letters-dash-letters as the numeric range 0-0 -- causing false hits.
2. Changed: MC will not perform letter range searches (ex. a-f) unless a field is specified for the search.
3. Changed: MC will now properly start minimized if its shortcut is configured to do so, or if MC was minimized during the last exit.
4. Fixed: Right-click > Import was not working properly for My Computer tree items.
5. Fixed: MC could show "Failed to load product info" on Explorer right-click for corrupt installations.
6. Changed: More graceful and informative handling of failures to load product info.
7. Fixed: Typo in "Remove Cover Art" dialog.
8. Changed: Registration Info and About no longer say "Media Center PLUS".
9. Fixed: Media Server auto-find selection dialog would not always come to the top when starting MC.
10. Fixed: Splash screen could cover "Attempting to find Media Server..." message.
11. Fixed: Connecting to Media Server with large libraries could be slow.
12. Fixed: CD-Text could get messed up when burning several CD's.
13. NEW: Added option to show diagnostics when starting ASIO to ASIO configuration dialog.
14. Changed: When setting "Album Artist (auto)" for mix albums, the "Album Artist" field gets updated instead of the "Artist" field.
15. Fixed: When showing a thumbnail list, sometimes MC wouldn't draw the visible thumbs for a while. (hopefully fixed -- let us know)
16. NEW: Added SDK fields and zones objects. (pMJ->GetFields() and MJ->GetZones())
17. Changed: Readded remaining MBs for transfer.
18. Fixed: Analog CD playback wasn't working right (stop, pause, elapsed time, etc.)
19. Changed: View filter now applied when viewing playlist groups.
20. Changed: Track Info pages don't show 3D borders anymore.

Bug:
1. Transfers to a portable device (CF-card) no longer works.  Get File Error Information dialog with all files listed and error code 0 (for each).  Then, the drive letter under CD, DVD & Handhelds disappears for the CD-card reader drive (a PC-card actually on my laptop).  This worked fine under the prior installed version of MC v9.1.281.

hey folks... great product, loved it for long time... haven't written a bug report before... but this is annoying...

Whenever I delete an item from the recently imported playlist, it flips back to the top of the playlist...

and one semi-bothersome thing... I've never been able to burn cds, audio or data at any rate higher than 40x, even tho my max speed is 44x

thanks, y'all

DVD playback now works, didnt in last build. Made a fresh install, and it worked  8)

Not to be picky, but i have one question:

While you have replaced every "Media Jukebox" with "Media Center", why is still the exe-file called "media jukebox"?

Thanks again for a great program that keeps getting better!!

16. NEW: Added SDK fields and zones objects. (pMJ->GetFields() and MJ->GetZones())

Great to hear SDK is getting attention.  Please, Please, parameterize the MJFiles.Play() method to distinguish between the variations of Play that are available on the Right-Click menu.

Thanks for great work!.

That's some list of bug fixes.  Must have been at it all week-end ;D

MC reports inaccurate running times for CD's.  I checked the times for 3 CD's as reported by MC, Foobar, WMP and my hi-fi.  MC reports running times between 6 and 10 seconds shorter per CD than the other players.

Thanks - very happy about that.

Strange error message when installing this build though - I opted for "express" as usual and at the end of the standard screens I got "some files couldn't be installed Windows must be restarted".

After a reboot no further messages and MC9 seems to work fine.

In Playing Now, after performing a drag and drop operation on a track to move it to a different seq position, the view resets to seq #1 no matter where in Playing Now the action was performed. For instance, after dragging track seq #87 and dropping it after track #67 your view moves to track seq #1 instead of remaining near track seq #67. This was not the behaviour in previous builds.

Don't know if it's a bug or it's supossed now to work this way. Can anybody confirm?

Thank you.

The start minimised and album artist stuff works a treat, thank you  8)

Bug - DVD burning....

Went to burn a data DVD yesterday using build .299 and noticed that it incorrectly set the max burn speed at 2x (should have been 4x) so I used nero instead for that job (time's precious). Loaded up another to see if .300 would set the right speed, but it now appears to be completely broken...

It correctly detects the available space on the blank DVD, (+R in this case), but when I checked the settings prior to burning, the speed was set to 16x, which would have been nice ;). 16x is the max this burner can cd-r's at. So, there's this big button there that says "Burn", so I thought "wonder what happens when I press that" and here's what I got...

and clicking "OK" gives me this....

[afterthought]
I closed MC, refreshed the DVD drive, opened MC and tried this again. This time, it seemed to work out we had a DVD as opposed to a cd, but it still got the speed wrong offering choices of only 1x or 2x. When attempting the burn, the same errors as above occurred. I set the logger for that one and if you think it may be of any help, here's a link....

There's still a major bug with Sorting with dates, e.g. in the 'Images >- Disk Location' folder.  This is making it really tricky to 'renumber' images correctly by date.

The 'sorted' column is showing

19/11 14:02
19/11 14:03
19/11 14:03
19/11 14:05
19/11 14:04
19/11 14:05
19/11 14:04
19/11 14:06
19/11 14:06
19/11 14:07

I can send a screenshot if that would help?

Really annoying bug:

If you highlight an item in the panes, the file list, a playlist or a smartlist and press Enter - MC follows the configured double click behaviour (which for me is Add as next to play).  However, if you highlight a node in the tree (a view scheme) and press Enter MC replaces the contents of playing now.

Marko I think the DVD burn speed is dictated by the media rather than the maximum burn speed of the drive.  DVD Rs have a code in them that stops you burning them at a higher speed than they allow.  And most DVD burners do not allow it to be burned at maximum anyway.
