No longer converting wma files into mp3?
« on: December 16, 2003, 12:41:16 pm »

The reason for upgrading to MJ Plus (12.08.03) is my favorit feature converting wma files into mp3. Now after updateing my converter says, that wma files are "unsupported types".
What could i do? I don't want to spent more money for getting a feature i've had some weeks ago. Please help me.

You cannot convert WM files that are protected with WM encryption.

I think, i spend money for converting my files with MJ Plus and now a few weeks later it doesn't work. The first weeks i use the converter without
any problems. Is there any way to get back the version 8.0.3...?

Thank's for helping - i don't know something about protected files
Please tell me why i should convert this files from august to november and now not? i only rip my first (ca.100) cd's with wm player from januar to august and after buying mj i want to convert the wma files into mp3 because i've heard stupid things about wm player and wma files - i don't want to use them anymore.
i think: buying mj with the feature, converting files
from wma into mp3, i give my money to j.river
and now the feature doesn't work - what is wrong here?
please give me answer to my questions and i hope
you have some good ideas for me.

It's quite simple...JRiver had to pull the ability to convert protected wma's to other formats or face litigation. The bottom line is that you'll have to re-rip. Converting from one lossy format to another isn't a good idea anyways...if quality is your main concern.

Does anyone have any info on making iPODs work with this software. [I have no idea how to create the link to have this software recognise my iPOD for downloading. I am just getting started on trying to get MP3 tunes into my iPOD and am having lots of challenges.
Second issue: I have lots of windows media cd's in my computer and need help in converting them to MP3 format and ultimately into iPOD.  Any help most appreciated.

I think you would be better off using MC10 since the IPOD support came after MJ8 was programed.

steve (from J River) continues to work on the IPOD plug-in for MC10, Improving how it works.

Sorry to sound so stupid but what is MC10 and where do I find it. I remember MC5, a biker band from Detroit in the late 60's. Any connection here?
