Is the search bar gone?
It's been moved to the far far right, next to the playback info display. This will probably lead to a complaint thread soon.

"Plug-In" Error still exists:

Updated from .286 (worked) to .308, .309 & .311 receive dialog during rip and playback: Information-->Cannot create plug-in". -->OK  (Occurs after access to Internet).

Ripping will continue as long as OK isn't pressed on the dialog.  Once the OK button is pressed MC either halts w/o message or several GPF messages are displayed in session.

Event occurs everytime the tray open/closed on the DVD drive.

I’m having problems now (for a while)

My Computer drive tree crashes MC after opening and closing a couple of times.

Drive setup
C: 120G (System Drive)
D: 45 G Data (work and incoming new music)
E:160G Music by artist\album 0-J (580) Dir of artists
F:160G Music by artist\album K-Z (502) Dir of artists

Ripping my albums is done to D:\new music
Tagging, cover art and importing is done here
Then I drag it onto the proper tree and check
This has been working well till late (last 3 or four rev.), now the dir pulls to the bottom of the tree and on opening shows a blank.
Refreshing the tree will ether crash  mc or refresh OK but will crash on the next refresh.

Thanks Charles

hmmm.

Just saying, I think putting the search bar right next to the window it modifies makes a lot of sense. That is, I liked it better the old way. Now it looks like its some sort of global control, like play or pause. It used to be more logically placed. It also fit in better that way aesthetically.

but I suppose I should wait for the complaint thread.

The Blue Steel skin looks a bit funky now - like the backgrounds of the player buttons don't quite match the background gradient.

From previous bug threads:

  • Problem with how MC sets focus.  To recreate do the following:

*Display Playing Now and double click a track to start playback
*Use F11 to toggle into Track Info, Hairstyle and finally back to Mega-me
*You no longer have focus on the PN List (Try up and down arrow)

If you repeat the above test but have any other view besides playing now in focus before you toggle with F11, you always have focus just the way you left it when you return to Mega-me.

This behaviour is causing problems when navigating with a remote.  I could find a workaround but a fix within MC would be the best solution.

  • If you tab from the tree to the search bar you get a system beep for no apparent reason.  Very annoying when navigating with a remote.
  • The Auto Hide button in Hairstyle set up screen doesn't work.  When clicked it doesn't show/remove the tick to indicate whether it is enabled.

I agree.

The rebuild of the panes when changing a view is much faster now.

Great!

Right klick on taskbar icon in Video Mode
First reported: 26.11.2003
When watching a Video in MC and trying to use the MC Taskbar icon menu, it just doesn't appear. Also doesn't work even if the video isn't realy displayed, but playing (e.g. when browsing in Media Libary with internal display).
This is NOT a new bug, but I didn't report it up to now.

Fade Out on Stop holds MC
First reported: 26.11.2003
When pressing stop playing a Audiofile and "Fadeout" on stop is activated, MC doesn't react during the fade time. No mouse klick or anything else has an effekt. Also minimize doesn't work. After finishing the fadeout, MC recognizes all mousklicks given during the fadeout and does the action it should have done.
This is NOT a new bug. It appears when fading was added to MJ, but I didn't report it up to now.

Cool! It's faster, even on my old machine (PIII 733, 256mb ram).

I liked the placement of the search bar better the old way. This bar doesn't expand to let you see the parameters of the search.

What does everyone else think?

I'm wrong, sorry.

The search bar DOES expand! It expands from right to left and moves the info area over and makes it shorter. I liked it the old way better.

Very nice!

Big speed improvement!  (Not that it was really that slow.)

Hopefully it will continue to be fast.

Here's to getting the code functioning properly and then optimizing.  The proper way to do things.

Go JRiver, you guys Rock!!!

3. Changed: Moved search bar to main player area.
A good decision ;)

4. NEW: Added new advanced image / skin matrix drawing system. (documentation to follow)
Would it be better to wait for that documentation before updating the skins?

BTW: Is it still possible to skin the splitters? If so, how to do it?

Bugs : (caused by "new advanced image / skin matrix drawing system"?):
  • After changing skins, the transparency of the icons in tree and AW is lost sometimes. In AW, transparency comes back after selecting another view in the AW. Transparency of tree icons comes back after restarting MC (Win2K only?)
  • After changing skins, the icons in the top toolbar are not redrawn (the background of the old skin stays visible). After moving the mouse over that area, it redraws. (Win2K only?)
The Blue Steel skin looks a bit funky now - like the backgrounds of the player buttons don't quite match the background gradient.
Skins with gradients or textures in background will need some work... The image for the searchbar can also influence position and size of the searchbar... I've gotta play around a little bit to fix it.

From previous build:

Hairstyle does not select files correctly for play.  E.g. using an artist/album view if you navigate to a specific album to show all tracks and then click play MC plays all albums from that artist rather than the tracks in view.
