Import of large collection
« on: December 01, 2003, 12:45:15 pm »

Hi!

Since this morning, i can use my PDA like a remote controller with MC9 and MusicLobby. But I have a problem: if I put like 20-25 albums in MC9, my PDA works fine and there's no problem. But when i import my entire collection (~500 albums), it freezes my PDA and then MC9...  :-\

My PDA is a Dell Axim X5 and I use a wireless (802.11b) connection.

Thanks in advance for your help!

As I wrote earliear:

"If you have more than a few thousand tracks in Media Center, ML PPC becomes terrific slow. You have to wait a few minutes (if it ever comes) to only show a list of artists. "

Never got an answer to this problem in the Cinemar Forum:

MockMock,

According to what Mario Cascio, the developer of MainLobby/MusicLobby/DVDLobby, has told me, his software does not handle very large playlists when used from a PC client.

I am assuming that a similar issue exists with your PDA client. It may also have something to do with the amount of memory in your PDA, which, most likely, is a lot less than what you have on your PC.

There seems to be a data limit to the size of the playlist with Mario's software, which is absolutely excellent IMHO.

You should post this on Cinemar's support forum, where, I am sure, you will get Mario's direct answer to your question. Bottom line, is that it's not an MC 9.1.xxx issue.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for your response!

I will try to post this question on the Cinemar Forum.

If not, I will simply use Vinyl, which I like very much...
