Media Jukebox crashses in XP Home edition SP1
« on: December 08, 2002, 01:53:57 pm »

>:(

The demo worked fine.  Purchased Media Jukebox 8.0.393.0 and it crashes whenever [Start] button is pressed during Tools->Record.  No message or warning.  The error details are:

media jukebox.exe
Mod name: eric _wma.dll
ModVer:0.0.0.0
Offset 0000a61c.

If this can not be fixed, I will block purchase on my credit card.

I am not very happy so far...

Can you encode at all?  Try some of the other encoder plug-ins and rip a CD to test.

Our records show you bought version 9, not 8.0.393.  Is that correct?

:(

Seems any encoding of WMA files causes JukeBox to crash.  I can rip a CD and live record from the Line In of the sound card using MP3 encoder plugin, but not the WMA encoder plugin.  Again, the demo version worked fine with WMA encoding.  I can play previous recorded WMA files (decoder).

I can not convert any format into WMA without the JukeBox process crashing.

The file enc_wma.dll is the cause of any of the JukeBox crashses.  By the way, I have Windows Media player v8.00.00.4497

How about recording to wav or ape or mp3 for now?  We can take a look this week at the problem.

:D

Finally, v8.X is stable.

I had to completely uninstall MJ v8, as per instructions in previous forum mail.  I had to use regedit and remove anything with JRiver and MediaJukeBox, as well as uninstall eveything using Add/Remove programs from the Control Panel.

Before uninstalling, I had saved my registration file *.mjr from the website.  I rebooted after uninstalling.  I went back and downloaded MJ v8 onto my disk, instead of installing from the website, as I had done before.  I then installed MJ from the downloaded executable.  I double-clicked on my registration file and MJ accepted it.

I rebooted my system again, and have not had any more enc_wma.dll crashes.  I have successfully recorded from my sound card's Line-In and created *wma files.  I have also encoded and decoded these same files with MJ as a test.

MJ v8 is just too slick for me to completely give up on it.  However, I do not think someone like my wife would have had the patience to debug and correct MJ's install issues.
