Getting Logitech wireless keyboard to work with MC?
« on: December 12, 2003, 01:47:00 am »

I'm trying to get a Logitech wireless keyboard to work with Media Center. For the most part, the media buttons work OK, except that when toggling Play/Pause the Logitech software will launch Windows Media Player - which is annoying!!!

I've narrowed down the configuration parameters to a file called players.ini - I've put a copy here:

http://www.villamil.org/players.ini

It seems that it starts by specifying the command type, then the program executable name, window name, and then a series of codes corresponding to different commands. Can someone who knows their way around Girder, etc. figure out what these mean and how they map onto MC?

I think the problem is that iTouch checks the window name to see which application is running, and default behaviour for the "Play" button is to bring up Windows Media Player if it doesn't find a recognized player running. It only does this check for "Play", which is why everything is fine until you Stop or Pause then Play.

I will do some exploring, and post my findings.

My Cordless Logitech worked perfectly, as I added this:

JRiverMediaCenter=wac,Media Jukebox.exe,MJFrame,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,Media Center

as the last row (one row!) in my "players.ini". Save and restart iTouch.exe (or reboot your PC).

Thanks! I added:

"Media Center," after "MJFrame," - that's the Window Caption field that's been added

I didn't realize MC was compatible with the default messages, I had made some progress getting it to respond to the "btn" events

In this thread http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=15866;start=msg115491#msg115491 d_pert wrote a patch that worked for the Play/Pause button.

Some people managed to get the Media button to include MC, but I never could.  However, it's not a big deal.  If you press Play/Pause MC will launch if the program isn't open.
