Yep, an eject command in MC would be nice, especially if you're using a PC with a slot loading drive...

I use wizmo from www.grc.com

I use rightclicking on the driveletter and choosing "eject" - WinXP standard feature ;D.

But you can't close the cd drive, with AbsoluteControl you can.

I tried a few of these and then stumped up for CDEject. It has, amongst other things, a neat "eject, then close after a configured number of seconds" which is nice:)

I never tried absolute control, looks like it might be useful, will try it out.

If I sit in front of my computer I can close the drive with my hands - really, it's not that difficult ;D

If I sit on the other side of my much-to-big-house-to-walk-through I wouldn't open the cd-drive remotely - or would you open the frontdoor of your house 30min before you go out?

I do think it is better for the drive not to be close by pushing the tray .

In this case you have to use the small button on the left side of the drive.
Not allways very convenient.
This can involve twisted mouvements no good for your back...
The open tray makes the close button most of the time inaccessible

So ,with CdEject , i just press the 'Pause-Break'

ET VOILA !!!!!

PS: this is not a remote control program

Why?  What bad things are likely to happen to me?

Ok. I've to apologize to my cd-drive for pushing the tray from time to time - back later.
*autsch* You are right - bad for back.

Because using the close button close the drive in the correct axe and without a first push- At the same speed ,if you want.

Now , when you see the price of a cd-r drive , not such a big deal how you close it. If a problem because you close it with a hammer , just  get a new one .

To this day i used , foot , knee and hand.
Now just keyboard.

I burn on my main fileserver which is 10ft away which I also control via Remote Desktop.   Having a program to close the cd drive makes my life easier (if not more unhealthy) especially when using nero which sometimes forgets to close the cdrom after erasing a cdrw.

One good thing about doing this remotely is that it scares the living daylights out of my other half (who's PC is nearer the fileserver than mine) when I get the cd to suddenly open and close :D :D :D
