"Automatically Import" shouldn't be necessary for what he's describing -- checking this box make MC automatically import files that are PLAYED.  When ripping a CD, it should be imported into MC WITHOUT checking the "Automatically Import" box.  I defintely have this box UNchecked, and when I rip CDs they are definitely imported into the library.
