Total Recorder Pro is great -- let's me schedule the recording of internet broadcasts, etc...  It's never worked right with MC though -- when it's installed, the MC volume slider doesn't work.  Total Recorder has an option to use standard sound card drivers when it's not active, but even with this option set the MC volume slider doesn't work.  The volume controls in all the other media players (Real, Napster, iTunes, WMP9, etc....) all work normally.

Any chance whatever it is in MC that doesn't work right with Total Recorder will be fixed?!

I am using both programs together but I'm not getting the malfuntion you mentioned.
Maybe it is the order you installed them. I had my TR Pro installed before MC 9.

Perhaps it's the soundcard you're using, but it has nothing to do with the order of installation...  It's been an issue since first trying TR with version 8, and has continued with 9 and 10.  Others have mentioned it as well...

Will give RipCast a try, hadn't heard of that one before.

Took a look... great software if you're recording a MP3 broadcast, but that's all it does.  TR records anything, and the newest version saves in WMA, OGG, or MP3.  It does this well, recording in the selected format as opposed to converting a recording to one of them.  Guess if I have to give one up, it would be TR -- MC does to much to give it up    Between recorders though, TR Pro sort of leaves Ripcast in the dust...

I suppose you have tried every adjustment available, but here is how I have my settings in the TR System Options:

Turn Off Sounds Assigned to System Events - Checked
Playback: SB Live! Wave Device - Use Directly - Unchecked
Recording: SB Live! Wave Device - Use Directly - Unchecked
Total Recorder Driver (Recommended) - Checked
High Priority - Unchecked

If you suspect it may be the sound card, it would be worth going out and getting the standard SB Live card (What I'm using) as opposed to dumping TR.

MC controls the master volume.  Some other audio programs control the wave volume.

You can switch MC to use it's internal volume in the Player > Volume menu.

Changing to 'internal' volume made the slider disappear altogether, is that what's supposed to happen?

The soundcard is a Crystal WDM (Cirrus Logic CS4205) in a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop, the most currently available drivers are installed.
