Cover Art Is Fixed
« on: November 27, 2002, 03:29:27 am »

New Thread Started as per JimH

Yes Yes Yes - Cover Art is fixed........

One Question though.  Where does it get the "Cover Art" from?

Some covers cannot be found, so i would like to find them from elsewhere and post them to the Cover Art Source.

A really really nice feature would be to have "Cover Art" tell me when it cannot find a cover.  If it identified this I would then be able know (when doing a multiple cover search) which ones I needed to find elsewhere (or scan in) and then upload to the Cover Art location.

Cheers

Some people have suggested allmusic.com as a good source.

Sorry Jim you misunderstand me.  I know where I can get covers from.  What i am asking is.

1 -  If MJ can't find a cover, can i upload 1 to its source for it? (A bit like added to Yadb)

2 - Can a feature be added to Cover Art (not neccessarily V8 but maybe MC9) that will tell you when cover art fails to find a cover during multiple lookups.  This will then enable us to know which ones need "uploading" to the cover art source.

Thanks

As you understand now ,there is not -unfortunatly- MJ data for sleeves.

So there is no way to upload to his data .

Beside this as a GREAT MJ fan ,let me tell you that it does not make sense to use this fonction in MJ.
It is just rubbish . Not only most of the time you do not get a sleeve ,but when you get one ,at more than 70 % is not the right one ....

The other problem is that if yo get a sleeve from there and sleeves from AMG ,they do not have the same format .The AMG ones are bigger
The same concerning the sleeves from Emusic when uing MJ download manager .
If you i would use ONLY AMG.
Beside get sleeve ,you have a bio about the band and -most of the time- a note about the album . Up to you to  copy /paste all of it in MJ and get a total killer library

Zev,
I edited your post.  Sorry, but this is an area that is somewhat questionable, and we're trying to stay out of trouble.

Graham,
We could do a lot more in this area, but the legality is doubtful.  I see that you saw this thread, but others may not have:

OK ,i understand

To 1G..131
I gave a try to the search machine on link in one of the posts .
I still say that AMG is BY FAR THE BEST.
If you see a mistake in AMG ,contacy them . They will answer you ,ask you about the info ,if you are sure . If you have a link .
Can be the band web page or any other competent site.
Or a mail from you with a scan of your sleeve and \or songs list .

They are VERY friendly people, really.

I did help them  few times to correct some infos
