YADB and CDDB problems
« on: November 25, 2002, 05:03:51 am »

As a lot of other persons I have problems connecting to CDDB and YADB.

I have noticed that the software using 'CD disc info' can access the databases and get the correct information back, but when you use 'Update from CD database' you get the good old 'malformed message....'

someone with access to the code should check the 2 diff. ways of accessing the database. The programmer that coded the'CD disc info' obviously did a better job.

Has it occurred to anybody that the error could be on the YADB side, that their server is too busy ?

And does the 'malformed message...' not indicate that the communication between the MJ software and the databases are incorrect ?

Is there someone out there who can answer to these questions ?

Jan,

The "malformed" message ONLY comes from CDDB, not YADB.

I'm surprised that the Disc Info still works. It really doesn't reflect on the programmer, it's that CDDB only cut off one way of accessing them. (And the disc info option always accesses CDDB, even when you have chosen YADB).

If you upgrade to version 9, life is cleaner.
