Shift over:D
Walked the dog, wakened the family, had a smoke and a coffee....
Seem to have kinda hijacked wolfwalker's thread here, sorry bout that & hope it's ok.
Test 1:
Media Jukebox not running.
Insert audio cd, MJ opens and presents this dialogue....
Next, the screen flickers once, and MJ shows me this one....
then after only a few seconds MJ closes itself.
On restarting MJ (config'd to always open in Media Library), and expanding, then clicking on the
audio cd in the left pane, cd track info correctly displayed in right hand pane.
MJ plays the CD without any further trouble.
test 2:
Keep Media Jukebox open (idle).
Insert audio cd. Cd info lookup works flawlessly.
Test 3:
Restart MJ, insert audio cd, Cd info lookup works flawlessly.
Test 4:
Try with skins disabled.... Same result.
From the above results, it seems that MJ is only falling over when opened via
the cd autorun function.
I'm running windows XP, from "My Computer" I've set the autorun options for "music cd" to
"don't ask me, just play using MJ" and "associate with audio cd's" is ticked in MJ's options.
Not sure if it's relevant or not, but prior to deciding MJ was going to be my choice of
software, I trialled a few others....
Winamp 3
Blaze Media Pro
Realone Player
Musicmatch jukebox
....to name a few!! Now, they've all been uninstalled, but could they have left this headache
behind? My limited PC experience tells me it's gotta be somewhere in the registry, but I'm not
sure where to look. I also uninstalled MJ, removed its registry entries in both of the "Software" hives
then re-installed. This was the night before last, when you broke YADB, John, and I thought that had fixed
things. After reading last night that YADB could have been "offline" around that time, I unplugged the
modem, and tried a few cds. Making sure that each disc I tried was completely new to MJ, just in
case it had any info of previous discs saved away somewhere. Most failed and listed the tracks
in the "track 1, track 2, etc." format, but a few showed the correct listings. I assume from this
that those cd's must contain Cd-text and MJ had imported the info from there, so the remove/restore didn't
fix things after all.
I can't nail for certain when this started. When I very 1st install audio programs, it's one of the
1st basic tests I do. "will it open and auto-play an audio disc on insertion?" Now, I cannot actually
remember doing the test, but I'm sure I did it, and I'm sure if MJ had failed it, I'd have remembered,
and most probably not paid for it;) The night before last was the 1st time I'd put an audio cd in the drive
without MJ actually running. Since installing, I've added a few skins, the mp3 encoder plugin, the "Dupfinder"
and "Smartmove" plugins. (those 2 should be part of a default install btw. They are most excellent tools.
Respect to their respective authors. They influenced my decision to buy)
That's as far as I got. It's still doing it and I'm not sure what to try next.
Any suggestions?
