Leftover Audio bursts on Play
« on: March 15, 2004, 05:01:50 pm »

V10.0.91 I still get some "random" bursts of sound from a prior track when starting a new track by pressing play, never on an automatic track switch (since it's next in the playlist).

I have my playback set to immediate gapless for all transisitions.

Try this.  Double click on a track to start it playing.  Click the pause button.  Then double click another track to start it playing, you will hear a short burst of sound from the first track you paused.

I've got an Audiophile 24/96 audio card with the latest drivers.

1.  Anyone else with the same card have or not have the same problem?
2.  What about other cards?  Anyone else have this problem with any card?
3.  Is it just me...........

It's not just you.  I have the same problem using Media Server at work on the crappy Dell machines there.  I've tried switching outputs but no go, so I'm going to do some more checking and see what I can come up with.

I think it's hardware specific.  Switching to ASIO or DirectX output might help.

Try another program with the same output type and see if you get a similar thing.

We used to have a special flush to clear the soundcard buffers, but this caused an extra click on stop with some cards, and people didn't like that either.

Maybe we could make the flush optional.

Next build will have an option for aggressive reset in the "Wave Out" settings.

Let us know if it does the trick.
