When editing tag data inline, if the field you are edit is a partial name of a currently stored value for that field (like "Four" is to "Fourplay"), then MC automatically changes the field to the full name (like "Fourplay") without the user typing or selecting it.

If you see auto-complete text you don't want, tap backspace before going to the next field.

I guess I'm not being clear...

Just press F2 and when the edit starts, MC changes the value to the longer value all on it own...it shouldn't do that.

Exempli Gratia

I have two tags: Hits and Hitsongs.

Only when I go to Hits, press F2 and put the cursor after the last character and write o MC suggests ngs. If I write something else nothing is suggested.

If I continue writing e.g. nics that overrides the suggestion and I get Hitsonics.

Only when I want to write e.g. Hitson I have to delete the extra letters.

In my opinion it's better this way, because usually you don't have to type many letters if the tag already exists.

Did I make myself clear?  ;)

This fixed the problem I reported 2 builds ago, trying to write to a drive formatted for a Mac, using MacDrive for I/O. Right on!

Not sure if Alex is agreeing with me or not.

But, MC should not just change a field value to the closest next match if I hit F2 (way too agressive).  As is, if you press F2 and then Tab, Tab, Tab it is possible for MC to change four field values without the user ever doing anything (or intending for a field to be edited).  To test it out: change an Artist or Album name to one letter.  Then attempt to edit that same field via another F2 press, MC automatically changes the field value to the first Arist/Album that matchs that letter (too agressive).

I guess I should mention this is happening with tracks that are NOT imported into MC.  I'm just editing the tags for unimported MP3s (mabye it makes a difference is how MC handles tag editing).

I see. It's different with unimported files. Never tried that before. Possibly a bug.

I've been having some problems getting MC to imort or play recently encoded real media files.  Other rm files work fine though...
