Running MC as a Windows Service
« on: May 06, 2004, 02:52:18 pm »

When I run MC as a service (with FireDaemon), I can't type anything in any place. As if the keyboard is disconnected (it isn't). The mouse works fine. Everything works fine if I just start MC as a window. Any ideas?

My config is:
Win Small Bus. Server 2003
MC 10

on a Dell 400SC

I run Media Server as a service but why would you run Media Center itself as a service?

Either way, is "Allow Interaction with desktop" checked in the service properties?

When you log off of Win Server 2003, it shuts down everything that's running under your logon. I want MC to keep running for all logons/logoffs. Would running Media Server as a service do that for me?

Yep, interact with desktop is checked. Thanks for your response.

I think by design MC Media Server should run as Windows service. I also run a house server and every time it restarts MC Server is not available until I get down to the cellar to start it on the console screen.

MC server should be able to run unattended and have robust recovery path.
