How do I set my playing by order.  As an example, if I set the listing by artist I want it to play in that order, if I set the order by song, I want it to play in that order.

I thought if you click on the order that you see it would play in that order but it keeps going by seq #.

you proberbly have shuffle on. I took me a helluva long time to figure that one out. IT the bars like thingies next to the progress bar.

You can also update the order in playing now, by rightclicking on it, in the side menu. You can also use action window: build playilist->edit playing now for this one.

After you do your sort, you have to perform one extra step:  Right-Click  -->  Update Order.

As an addendum, I think the philosophy behind this is that one should be able to manipulate the view (for whatever reason) without affecting the current playback order.
