Interface for viewing on a TV
« on: November 14, 2002, 12:41:51 pm »

Hi all:

I have a home theater and an htpc.  I am in need of a easy to use, remote control-driven interface.  Let me explain:

My music is made up of partially/fully ripped CDs (don't include songs I don't like) and MP3s.

I'm not talking about listening to streaming music over the internet, playing DVDs, burning, ripping, viewing album covers via the internet, downloading to an mp3 player or having a music player walk my dog, etc.  If/when I need to do that there are many programs and I will use my keyboard, mouse and leash.

I'm talking about sitting in the theater, with remote in hand and playing music.  Specifically:

Easily scrolling through artists and tracks
Choosing songs to play
Easily scrolling through and choosing to play a previously saved playlist
Viewing the current lineup of songs (just artist and song, not the year the engineer was born)
stop, pause, clear playlist, play, next, previous

Think of the remote as having the 4 arrow keys plus the 'enter' key.

The interface needs to be very, very clean.  Maybe two windows 1) library, 2) current playlist, and  6 easy to read buttons which would be accessed by using arrows and enter.

Does anything like this exist?

Thanks
Bob

Version 9 has Hairstyle, this fullscreen mode which was designed for TV:

Is that close?
