Import media causes a MC hang
« on: June 04, 2004, 06:21:22 am »

Hi all.

I have had this problem before which was caused by a knackered mpg file, but this time it seems to be a directory with no media files in it. When i press start in import media it gets to the directory (c:\belkin\manual - completely unrelated to anything) and just hangs. The only way out is to stop the MC process. Being smart, i went and deleted the directory, now when i press start/search i see no dialog and it hangs straight away.

Has anyone else experienced this? I notice now that xp home has nothing to replace the old scandisk, how do i check it isn't a bad sector?

cheers all

Make sure you've got MC 10.0.145.

If it still happens, I'm not sure.  Try import using the "My Computer" tree inside of MC.

Any other clues would be great.  Thanks Mark.

Matt,
sorry, i still haven't had time to go through them all, but i have found that music files from RealOne Player (*.rmj) are imported as video clips, plus it doesn't understand the naming structure.
It's not a big deal, i'm gradually re-ripping everything to mp3, but you might want to fix it for other people.
