OT: How soon is now?
« on: June 12, 2004, 05:08:17 pm »

Hay all,

Did anyone hear Tatu's cover of the smiths "How soon is now"?

I liked it very much. In fact it made me shade a tire twice.

Does anyone know other artists that covered Smiths songs?

You mean "How Soon Is Now"?

Off the top of my head, I know back in the 80s, Kirsty MacColl did a cover of "You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby".

What a great site!

So the answer according to this web site is that 42 different Smiths songs have been covered 143 times by 114 different artists.

The artists that have covered smiths songs the most (4 times) are Slapshot and The Ukranians.  The most covered Smiths song (20 times) is 'There is a light that never goes out' followed by 'Please Please let me get what I want' with 13 covers.

Yeah, it's a cool site, isn't it?

I haven't been there for a while, but I think anyone can contribute.  I've never done it though, cause even the most obscure covers that I know of are already there...

Listening to: Yo La Tengo - 'Yellow Sarong', from 'Fakebook'
